CPR Requirements

The Dental Board requirement for all license holders (ADHP’s and dentists) is every two years. During the same time period as the licensee’s renewal period, the licensee must renew his/her CPR certification using criteria designed by the Board.

Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA)

Compliance Information

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was signed into law in August 1996. This federal law contains provisions that permit greater portability and continuity of health insurance coverage from one employer to the next. But HIPAA also contains provisions that apply to the full range of health care providers — including dentists — as well as to health insurers and clearinghouses.

Continuing Education Requirements

Minimum requirement for each renewal period is 50 hours of continuing education, including 2 hours of Infection Control, 2 hours of California Dental Law, and Basic Life Support. Licensees renewing for the first time are exempt from this requirement. ( Dental Board of California )

USCIS Revises Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9

The USCIS announced on November 7 that a revised Employment Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) is available for use. All employers are required to complete a Form I-9 for each employee hired in the United States. Employers are encouraged to start using the revised form immediately.
